Miami football 2019 season opener doesn’t look good after bowls

Florida averaged 217.2 passing yards this season, 209.6 rushing yards per game, 5.2 yards per carry rushing and 426.8 yards in total offense. That compares to 163.5 passing yards per game for Miami, 193.5 rushing yards per game 5.2 YPC rushing and 358.8 total yards per game.

Florida losses four Senior starters on offense, but only one on defense from this year’s team. Gators’ Junior safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is leaving a year early for the NFL. The Gators are likely to at least be a top ten team in the 2019 preseason rankings if not higher.

Miami loses three Seniors starters on offense and four on defense from the Pinstripe Bowl. That number could and likely will increase with several Hurricanes Juniors considering the NFL Draft. No matter what happens in the offseason in high probability Miami will be the underdog to the Gators.

This is a critical offseason for Mark Richt and the Miami football staff. Even if the Hurricanes get the offseason right, the critics will be all over Richt, Miami Athletic Director Blake James and the football program if they are not at the very least competitive against Florida in the 2019 season opener.
