Miami Basketball hosts NC State to begin ACC Play: Game Info

North Carolina State Head Coach Kevin Keatts is in his second year in Raleigh. He was at North Carolina-Wilmington the three previous seasons. The Wolfpack finished 21-12 last season and lost to Seton Hall in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

UNCW won the Colonial regular season titles all three years Keatts was coaching the Seahawks. His last two seasons they won the conference tournament to earn NCAA Bids. Wilmington lost games to Duke and Virginia by a combined 13 points in their two NCAA Tournament games under Keatts.

In five seasons as a collegiate Head Coach, Keatts is 105-41. He’s 33-13 in a year and a half at NC State. The Wolfpack’s 12-1 start is the program’s best since 2006. Miami has dominated the series recently. The Hurricanes have won the last three times the teams have played and seven of the last ten.

The Hurricanes won 86-81 in Raleigh last season. Sophomore guard Chris Lykes and Senior forward Anthony Lawrence Jr are the only returning starters for Miami from that game. Lawrence had 15 points on 5-8 from the floor and made 3-4 three-point attempts. Lykes had six points and five assists.

Izundu had his best game of 2017-18 returning to the state where he played high school basketball. The former Charlotte resident scored 15 points on 7-7 from the floor and contributed three rebounds. North Carolina’s State leading scorer this season Torin Dorn had 13 points and four rebounds in the loss.
