Dorn has been outstanding for Keatts and the Wolfpack during non-conference play. He is averaging 15.1 PPG, 6.4 RPG, shooting 53.8 percent from the floor and 44.8 on three-point attempts. He is one of only three players for North Carolina State averaging in double figures.

Dorn and Juniors Markell Johnson and C.J. Bryce power the Wolfpack’s guard-oriented lineup. Johnson and Bryce are the other two Wolfpack players averaging in double figures. Keatts prefers an uptempo style. That’s reflected in NC State’s 89.4 PPG that’s sixth in the nation. The Wolfpack is 47th allowing 64.8 PPG.

Miami averages 77.6 PPG that is 101st nationally. The Hurricanes allow 67.6, 88th in Division I. The Hurricanes short bench has kept them from developing an identity. Two years ago in the same situation, Jim Larranaga went with a slower pace. Lykes style as the point guard contradicts that.

The ACC opener is a critical game for the Miami Basketball team. North Carolina State has started the season as one of the nation’s hottest teams. Entering conference play only Virginia’s 12-0 record is better. Florida State and Virginia Tech have matched the Wolfpack’s 12-1 start.

The game against North Carolina State ends a 12 game Miami homestand. The Hurricanes play Sunday at Louisville and at Florida State on Wednesday. The Hurricanes return home for Wake Forest and North Carolina after playing the Seminoles. If Miami losses to NC State they face a real possibility of beginning ACC Play 0-3.
