The Miami football program will be will well represented in the NFL Wildcard round. The Los Angeles Chargers lead the teams that will play in the Wildcard round with four Miami alums. Philadelphia and Seattle are the only teams without a UM alum playing this weekend.

The first game of the weekend is the Indianapolis Colts at the Houston Texans at 4:35 ET on Saturday. The Miami Football program’s all-time leading passer Brad Kaaya and his former Hurricanes teammate Al-Quadin Muhammad are on the Colts.

Kaaya is on injured reserve and out for the season. Muhammad played four games as a rookie with the New Orleans Saints in 2017. He has played 15 games this season with four starts. Muhammad has 28 tackles, five tackles for loss and two quarterback hits this season.

Lamar Miller and Seantrel Henderson are the Miami football alums on the Texans. Miller has been Houston’s leading rusher since signing with them for the 2016 season from the Dolphins. Henderson has had an up and down season on the Texans roster after suffering a season-ending injury week one.

Miller ran for 973 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games this season, just missing out on the third 1,000-yard season of his career. He added 25 receptions for 163 yards and another touchdown. Miller’s 97-yard run against the Titans this season made him the only player in NFL history with two runs of 95 yards or more.

The only player on the roster of Saturday’s prime-time game is Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Allen Hurns. Hurns is in his first season with the Cowboys. After playing his entire football career in Florida, Hurns left his native state for the first time.

He is wearing number 17 with the Cowboys in honor of the shooting victims at Marjory Stoneman-Douglas High School in Parkland. Hurns played high school football at Carol City. Current Miami Football running back Cam’ron Davis is also a Carol City alum.
