Losing out on four-star Defensive end Khris Bogle from Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale to Alabama was a tough blow. Bogle had been projected by 89 percent of the prognosticators on 247Sports.Com as signing with Miami. He wants to compete against the best. At Alabama, he will get to do that.

Bogle spoke about his commitment to the Crimson Tide when he committed on National Television on NBC on Saturday.

"“Playing against the best,…Great class coming in right now. We might win the natty for the next three to four years if I go there. Just compete. We’re just going to compete each and every day.”"

By joining Alabama, Bogle is likely for the most part going to become just another player. Diaz in some ways is starting the Miami football program over. He is going to need more players that want to build something special and not players that want to be part of a program that already is.

The Hurricanes are in a similar place to where they were before the 1983 football season. Miami finished 7-4 in 1982 after an 18-5 combined record in the 1980 and 81 football seasons. The 1980 team under Jim Kelly earned a Peach Bowl berth. The 1981 team was on probation and ineligible for a bowl.

Kelly only played in the first 2.5 games in 1982 before suffering a separated a shoulder. He was replaced at quarterback by former Miami Head Coach Mark Richt. Richt led the Hurricanes in passing that season but did not lead them to a bowl game.
