According to a report from Canes Warning partner site, Bama Hammer, new Miami football Offensive Coordinator Dan Enos emptied his office at Alabama before any of the Alabama staff knew he was leaving to take the job with the Hurricanes.

Dan Enos spent the 2018 season with Alabama as their Quarterbacks Coach. Before coaching at Alabama and joining the Miami football coaching staff, Enos was the Offensive Coordinator for three years at Arkansas and the Head Coach at Central Michigan for five seasons.

Enos’ departure caught just about everyone but Miami Head Coach Manny Diaz by surprise. When Enos was announced as the Hurricanes new Offensive Coordinator Diaz said that Enos was his first choice all along.

The speculation was that the Hurricanes were waiting to hire a new Offensive Coordinator was because one of the National Championship teams were involved. Reports ranged from the Miami football program had stuck out on two previous selections to wanting Clemson Co-Offensive Coordinator Jeff Scott.

Enos was a huge coup for Diaz. He is an experienced and highly sought after play caller. Tua Tagovailoa set the FBS record for passing efficiency under Enos’ tutelage in 2018. Tagovailoa had a 199.4 passing efficiency rating.

Tagovailoa completed 69.0 percent of his passes for 3,966 yards, 11.2 yards per attempt, 43 touchdowns and six interceptions. As a team, Alabama completed 68.7 percent of their passes for 323.6 yards per game. The Crimson Tide led the nation with a 197.34 quarterback rating.

Alabama has had a lot of instability on their coaching staff. It cost them Clemson’s star Freshman wide receiver Justyn Ross who is from Alabama. Ross signed with the Tigers because of the high turnover on the Alabama staff. It could also have been the reason Enos chose to move on.

Enos was slated to replace Alabama Offensive Coordinator Mike Lockley who left Tuscaloosa to take over at Maryland as the Head Coach. Counting who would ever replace Enos, Alabama will have had six Offensive Coordinators since Lane Kiffin in 2014. It’s clear by his stealth actions that Enos wanted to leave.
