Diaz’s next hire came two days later. Blake Baker succeeded Diaz as the Defensive Coordinator at Louisiana Tech after the 2014 season. Baker was the Safeties Coach at Louisiana Tech under Diaz before succeeding him as Defensive Coordinator with the Bulldogs from 2015-18.

Under Baker, the Louisiana Tech defense was ranked highly in several categories in 2018. That includes fourth in the nation in sacks and “All-America defensive end Jaylon Ferguson, who ranked second in the nation in tackles for loss (26.5) and led the country in sacks (17.5)”  according to HurricaneSports.Com.

Offensive Coordinator Dan Enos was hired on January 11. Enos spent 2018 as the Quarterbacks Coach at Alabama. He previously was the Offensive Coordinator for three seasons with Arkansas under Bret Bielema and the Head Coach for five seasons at Central Michigan. Enos was 26-36 with the Chippewas.

Arkansas was 29th in total offense during Enos’ first season. The Razorbacks offense plummeted from there. In 2016, the Razorbacks were 54th nationally in offense and 94th in 2017. Arkansas went 8-5, 7-6 and 4-8 in Enos’ three seasons as Offensive Coordinator.

Enos will likely have more talent in Coral Gables than Fayetteville, but he also needs more production on the field than his final two seasons under Bielema. He did help Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa set the FBS mark for passing efficiency in 2018 with a mark of 199.4.
