Miami football has gone from recruiting losers to off-season winners
Kirshner also places the Hurricanes near the top of the teams who are enjoying the new year so far. He only gave one FBS program a better start to the new year than Miami.

Diaz has reinvigorated a Miami fan base and media that had become extremely frustrated with Richt’s antiquated offense and unimaginative play calling. Some even called for Richt himself to resign or be fired. Richt ultimately gave those asking him to leave Miami as Head Coach their wish.
Richt’s stubbornness to fire his son Jon as Miami’s quarterbacks coach and his former player at Georgia Thomas Brown as Offensive Coordinator and Running Backs Coach ultimately led to his decision to retire. Diaz has created new excitement and seems to determined to upgrade the Hurricanes offense.
Miami has gotten off to a great start to 2019. There are a lot of things left to happen to continue the momentum going during the calendar year. The Hurricanes have less than three weeks remaining until national signing day, about six weeks until spring practice starts and 7.5 months until they play Florida in the opener.
A new coach always creates new excitement for a team and a program. The Miami football program has to carry all of the momentum to the gridiron next season. The second half of the 2018 season seemed to lack passion. Diaz will hope to restore that.
