The Hurricanes are not done in the portal. Nnoruka’s teammate at UCLA Jaelan Phillips was the nation’s top recruit in 2017 and is strongly considering joining the Miami football program. Miami is also going hard after former Virginia Tech star defensive end Trevon Hill.

Phillips would likely have to sit out 2019. Hill would be immediately eligible. The Hurricanes currently have six transfers currently on the roster.

Miami also added former Auburn running back Asa Martin and Butler left tackle Tommy Kennedy. Martin will also petition for a waiver to play in 2019. Kennedy will be Miami’s starting left tackle.

The renewed energy in the Miami Hurricanes family, as the fans and media like to call themselves, has come from the talent Diaz has added and his frequent activity on social media. Diaz has trolled the fans and media frequently in the nearly four weeks since he became the Hurricane Head Coach.

Diaz has infused fun back into the Miami Football program. Even under Richt Diaz seemed to be the one coming up with the ideas of how his players could enjoy playing football. His creation of the turnover chain was a national phenomenon as well as in Miami. There were many imitators, but no duplicators.

Diaz is clearly having fun with being hired in his dream job. He’s the perfect fit for as he put it “The New Miami.” Diaz’s catchphrase has spawned the hashtag #TNM using the acronym for The New Miami. He also created a WWE style practice to get the know the team as the Head Coach earlier this month.
