With about 36 hours until National Signing Day commences the Miami football program is in contention to flip several players who already committed to other football programs.

Surge ’19 got off to a terrible start by standards set by most recruiting classes for the Miami football program. The Hurricanes are currently 32nd in the 247Sports composite rankings as of Monday night.

The biggest name that Miami is still in the race for is Cardinal Gibbons four-star defensive end, Khris Bogle. Bogle is committed to Alabama but many experts expect him to flip to Miami or Florida when he signs his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday. Bogle committed to the Crimson Tide in early January.

Bogle’s commitment to Alabama at the Army All-American game came after the early signing period in December and meant he had to wait until this week to sign his NLI. Without taking into account who the schools in front of them sign, if Miami adds Bogle they would move up to 24th overall for 2019.

Bogle is one of a handful of high profile recruits that Miami is hoping to add to Surge ’19 this week. A pair of cornerbacks, a defensive tackle, a running back with a name familiar to Miami football fans and a five-star wide receiver are all still in the mix with the Hurricanes.

Three-star cornerback Martin Emerson is committed to Mississippi State and appears to be a longshot to flip to Miami. Four-star Cornerback Christian Williams is currently committed to Alabama. He is expected to flip from the Crimson Tide with LSU being the frontrunner. Miami is still in the mix.

Offensive line play was one of the biggest deficiencies on the Miami football team in 2018. The Hurricanes are hoping to add four-star offensive tackle Darius Washington on Wednesday. Washington de-committed from Mississippi State on Sunday night.

Running back Mark Antony Richards is the brother of former Miami wide receiver Ahmmon Richards. Where Richards signs depend on which recruiting website you go to. 247 uses composite rankings from numerous recruiting websites. Eight of the 12 prognosticators that 247 is using project Richards to sign with Auburn.

Rivals.Com recruiting analyst Mike Farrell, who was not in MASH, believes that Miami is the front runner to sign Richards. Richards signing with the Hurricanes would be a huge boost to Surge ’19, especially if Miami lands him in tandem with Bogle.

Farrell and his Rivals’ colleague Rob Cassidy each spoke to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson about Richards. Farrell’s analysis is first, followed by Cassidy’s.

"“I think he ends up at Miami…Auburn is the dark horse to watch out for here. Georgia already has a lot of running back depth, but he’s the type of kid who can play all-purpose back, he can play slot receiver, he can do a lot of different things.I still like Miami for Richards, but I don’t know if I’d stake much money on that take. He’s been incredible when it comes to playing things close to the vest. Auburn, Georgia and Miami are all players. Any other choice would shock me. I’m on record predicting Miami, but I’m far less certain of that than I was a month ago."

Miami was late recruiting five-star wide receiver George Pickens who is currently committed to Auburn. According to Jackson, Pickens was impressed by Manny Diaz and his staff but is expected to stick with his commitment to Auburn.

The Miami football program will definitely add three more players to Surge ’19 on Wednesday. Three-star quarterback Peyton Matocha of Houston and three-star defensive tackle Jared Harrison Hunte have committed in the last month and three-star punter Louis Hedley committed in December.
