The Miami basketball teams have a big doubleheader on Sunday. The Miami women travel to number two Louisville Sunday afternoon and the men play at Boston College Sunday night.

Both the Miami men and women’s basketball games will be televised on ESPN’s networks. The Women of Miami Basketball will tipoff on ESPN2 at 3:00 PM ET from the KFC Yum Center. The Men will tipoff with the Eagles at 6 PM on ESPNU.

The men and women Miami basketball teams have had very different seasons. The women are 21-5 overall and 9-2 in the ACC. An upset win against the Cardinals on Sunday would put the Hurricane women essentially atop the ACC standings.

The Louisville women’s basketball team is 23-1 overall and 10-1 in the ACC. Notre Dame is currently 10-2. A win by the Miami women would put them in a three-way tie with the Cardinals and Fighting Irish with wins over both.

Katie Meier’s team travels to Derby City with wins in seven of their last eight games. A win over Louisville on Sunday would give the Hurricane women two victories this season over top-five teams. Notre Dame was fourth in the country when Miami defeated them at the Watsco Center earlier this month.

The Miami women earned a top 16 seed in last weekend’s early release of the seeds for the NCAA Tournament. It’s no indication of where the Hurricanes will be when the bids are announced on

The Miami Men’s basketball team have struggled this season. They found out a few hours before the beginning of the 2018-19 season that star center-forward Dewan Hernandez was ineligible.

Earlier this month Hernandez was handed the stiff penalty of being ineligible for the remainder of this season and 40 percent of next season. Hernandez chose to enter the 2019 NBA Draft instead.

After beginning the season 5-0, the Men’s Miami basketball team suffered a five-game losing streak. After winning their final three games in non-conference, the Men lost eight of their first nine ACC games. Jim Larranaga has led his team to victories in the last two of the last three games.

Miami has had its best stretch of the season over their last four games. They probably should have defeated North Carolina in Chapel Hill last weekend. The Hurricanes played well in a loss at Virginia two weeks ago.

The game at Boston College is the second of four consecutive games for the Men against unranked teams. The Hurricanes began that stretch with a thrilling victory over Clemson on Wednesday night. A Zach Johnson runner with 0.3 seconds remaining gave Miami the win.

The Hurricanes will continue the stretch by hosting Georgia Tech February 23 and traveling to Wake Forest three days later. They finish the season in March with games against Duke, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech.
