The Miami basketball team will play its toughest and last true road game of the season when they play at number 3/2 Duke on 3/2 against the Blue Devils.

The Miami basketball team is one of the few programs that has played Duke evenly over the past few seasons. The Hurricanes have won three of three of the last five times they have played the Blue Devils. This is not likely to be one of those years.

Miami travels to Durham, NC with an 0-8 record in true road games this season. The Hurricanes short-handed roster has been well documented this season.  Miami usually plays with a seven-man rotation and sometimes less.

Duke, as usual, has a loaded roster but could be missing Freshman sensation and likely top overall pick in the NBA Draft Zion Williamson with a knee injury. Williamson suffered a knee injury on February 20 against North Carolina. It would be surprising to him return against the Hurricanes.

Duke finishes up the regular season hosting Wake Forest on Tuesday and at North Carolina March 9. The ACC Tournament is March 12-16 in Charlotte.

Miami is coming off its most demoralizing loss of the season. The Hurricanes blew at 10 point lead with less than two minutes remaining in a 76-75 loss at Wake Forest. A Brandon Childress three-point shot with 26 seconds remaining was the game winner.

Tuesday’s collapse wasted a brilliant performance by Miami Sophomore point guard Chris Lykes. Lykes finished with 26 points. That included 15 points in the first half and five straight made three-point attempts. Lykes finished 6-10 from beyond the arc, but his teammates shot 5-21 on threes.

Duke should have no problems defeating Miami with or without Williamson in their lineup. Canadian native R.J. Barrett is the Blue Devils leading scorer at 23.1 points per game. He’s also second in rebounds at 7.4 and assists at 5.1. Williamson is second on Duke averaging 21.6 PPG and leads them at 8.8 RPG.
