Miami Hurricanes pro day early analysis, Trayone Gray has blazing 40
Willis was a menace on the field last season. The Hurricanes 2018 MVP finished the season in the top 20 nationally with 18 tackles for loss. Willis had a good performance on Monday.
He finished with an eye-popping 1.75-1.8 second ten-yard split according to NFL agent Malki Kawa. Chirinos said that Willis ran a 5.2 40 in his only attempt. Willis has excellent size and speed for his position and like Johnson, his on the field performance should speak for itself.
Some of the other players that competed on pro day included defensive end Joe Jackson, defensive tackle Tito Odenigbo, quarterback Malik Rosier and wide receiver Darrell Langham. Jackson is expected to be a second-day pick. The other three are likely to be undrafted free agents.
Chirinos said that Jackson ran a 4.9 and 4.8 in his two attempts in the 40 on Monday. Jackson ran the 40 after only participating in the bench press, vertical jump and the broad jump at the NFL Combine.
The six Miami Hurricanes who participated at the combine are all expected to get drafted. Gray might have put himself in the conversation with his 40 time on pro day.
