Posting to his Instagram account on Sunday, Miami football legend Michael Irvin’s biopsy came back clean. He does not have cancer.

Michael Irvin had a heartfelt post earlier this week detailing that he spent March 23 and 24 at UCLA Medical Center for tests regarding issues he had with his throat for months. The Miami football legend asked for prayers and stated it was the most scared he had ever been in his life. Irvin stated he has spent his life being fearless.

Several NFL dignitaries and former teammates replied to Irvin’s post on Instagram regarding the good news. NFL Network host Rich Eisen said “Wonderful news.”, former 49ers and Lions coach and current NFL Network analyst Steve Mariucci said “Thank God Irv…. that is the news we’ve all been praying for. Get well.”

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Instagram account responded to Irvin by saying great news and Irvin’s former Cowboys teammate and current Fox lead NFL game analyst Troy Aikman response said “Great news Irv” with the hands praying emoji next to it. Irvin explained the genesis of his health problems in his original Instagram post.

"“‪Spent Sun & Mon in LA at UCLA medical Health (Ronald Reagan Hospital) doing health test…This past football season after the @dallascowboys beat the @Saints i was so elated and hyped I lost my voice and the problem persisted for almost 2months.After visiting some of the best throat Doctors they thought it to be wise to take a deeper look at the situation. So we schedule and performed a throat biopsy.”"

Irvin followed up on Sunday to let his 423,000 followers that the biopsy of his throat came back clear.

"“Thank you God for continuing to answer Prayers and Thank you ALL for Praying. I spoke with Dr St John at UCLA Medical and she has informed me that all test have come back 100!% clean. NO CANCER!!!!!!It is impossible to express my family and my appreciation for the overwhelming out pour of love, support and prayers. I was on my threshing floor dealing with the stronghold of fear. You all covered and encourage me. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 To God be the Glory🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾”"

One of the biggest reasons for Irvin’s fear before the biopsy came back clear is that he lost his father to throat cancer at age 51. Irvin is currently 53. He also lost a brother to cancer at age 46.

Irvin spent time with the Miami football program at the beginning of spring practice before traveling to UCLA for the biopsy. Irvin’s son Michael II is currently a rising senior tight end on the Miami football team.

No one close to the Miami football program, nor the official Twitter account from the football team has released a statement regarding Irvin yet. Miami head coach Manny Diaz attended the Miami Open tennis tournament final on Sunday. Roger Federer defeated John Isner to win the title.
