Diaz is confident about the future of the Miami Hurricanes offense under new offensive coordinator Dan Enos. The players said during the week that the offense will be more complex than it was under Mark Richt.

"“They’ll see this film and they’ll realize that if we can get ourselves not to the point where we’re beat before the snap – which is to be expected during parts of the spring, it’s all new – we have a chance to be dangerous.”"

The play from running backs DeeJay Dallas and Cam’Ron Harris was expected. Some of the numbers posted by the wide receivers and tight end Will Mallory were surprising. According to the numbers released by UM through the Miami Herald, there were some players that shined offensively.

Harris had five carries, for 32 yards rushing, Dallas 38 yards rushing and Will Mallory four receptions for 62 yards and two touchdowns, WR Brian Hightower had three catches for 22 yards., WR Mark Pope “had a 52-yard touchdown reception.’’ and WR Evidence Njoku had a 51-yard catch.

Several defensive players had good performances in what will be a rebuilt secondary beyond returning starting cornerback Trajan Bandy. Bandy had two pass breakups, rising sophomore safety Gurvan Hall had four tackles and rising sophomore CB Al Blades Jr, two tackles and a PBU. Blades is likely to start at CB opposite Bandy.

The Hurricanes also have to adjust to a majority new coaching staff this spring. Diaz was pleased with their tutelage of the Miami Hurricanes players during Saturday’s first scrimmage.

"“My biggest joy of spring has watching our guys coach…The more I see them in action, the more I see them teach, the more I see how skilled they really are. Today is tough, because you have to cut the umbilical cord – you have to let them go out there and play. Sometimes, like I said, the first time in a scrimmage – especially when you’re installing a new system – there will be things that you’re horrified by when you watch the film, but that’s why it’s spring.”"
