It took 16 seasons but after a controversial no-call on what was an obvious pass interference in the NFC Championship game in January, the NFL has ruled that some pass interference calls are reviewable. That decision came too late for Miami Hurricanes and New Orleans Saints fans.

It will be interesting to see if college football will follow suit with allowing potential interference and no interference calls to be viewed.

The Auburn-Virginia game was an epic battle in the last five minutes. Auburn trailed by ten with just over five minutes remaining. The Tigers went on a 14-0 run to take a four-point lead with 17 seconds remaining. Free-throws by Anfernee McLemore provided the four-point margin.

A Kyle Guy three-point shot with eight seconds left cut the Tigers margin to one. Auburn’s Jarret Harper split two free throws with seven seconds remaining. Auburn used the two fouls they had to give to disrupt Virginia’s attempt to get a shot off in the final seconds.

There was also a potentially missed double-dribble call against the Cavaliers on their last possession. Former NFL and College Basketball referee Gene Steratore who is CBS Sports’ rules analyst conceded the missed double dribble call would have been difficult for the referees because the ball didn’t go a different direction.

After Auburn used their fouls the clock ticked down to two seconds. Guy broke free in the left corner and when he came down after missing on a three-point attempt he and Auburn’s Samir Doughty bumped legs.
