Dwayne Johnson, Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez will not be there but the Miami Hurricanes will have their own lifestyles of the Rich and Famous on Wednesday night at The Wharf.

The event on Wednesday night will see Miami Hurricanes head coach Manny Diaz and his coaching staff arrive at The Wharf via a yacht. Wednesday’s event is the Hurricanes first on the  “The New Miami 2019 Hurricane Club Spring Tour.” The event takes place from 6:30-8:30 and is open to Hurricane Club members at the public.

Hurricane Club members will be charged $60 to attend and the non-members entrance fee is $75. The Miami Hurricanes event Wednesday night is the second consecutive night for a big event in downtown Miami. Dwayne Wade’s final home game and retirement ceremony were held Tuesday night at American Airlines Arena.

According to the press release by the Miami Athletic Department The Wharf is a unique venue. It is located on the Miami River. The Wharf features a “waterfront lounge areas that feature several bars and dining areas.” according to HurricaneSports.Com.

Wednesday night’s event according to the Miami Athletic Department will have a “live DJ, a chance to interact with head football coach Manny Diaz and his entire coaching staff, as well as special appearances by Sebastian the Ibis and the UM spirit teams.”

The event should be a spectacle and have the flash that is typical to big events in South Florida. Miami senior associate athletic director Jesse Marks spoke to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald last week about what to expect at the kickoff event for the spring.

"“We have a very nice vessel…It’s a special boat to make a grand entrance. They will be coming in from Biscayne Bay on Miami River…Whoever purchases tickets can get to know the coaching staff, mix and mingle, take pictures, get autographs.Casual fun, Miami vibe. The event is meant to be inclusive with coaching staff and get everyone a chance to meet them and see the energy they bring to the program.”"

Fans that attend according to HurricaneSports “will receive two beer/wine/soft drink tickets, as well as hors d’oeuvres included with their registration, and cash bars will be available.”

Diaz is excited about the event that will benefit the Miami football program.

"“It’s a celebration of Miami football, The New Miami and new passion and spirit everyone is feeling behind the Hurricanes.”"

Diaz’s personality fits the event more than former Head Coach Mark Richt. Diaz created the turnover chain. He has repeatedly mentioned that he will emphasize the players having fun as part of his mantra and the culture he will create. Wednesday’s event will be the first public one under Diaz.
