The Miami football team enters the final week of spring practice and their final two scrimmages with a roster vastly different than how it will look in August.

Three freshmen enrolled early and several of the players joining the Miami football program from as transfers have not matriculated in Coral Gables yet. Adding injuries has limited what Manny Diaz and his staff can accomplish during spring practice. Several position groups have limited depth this spring.

Acclimating the new players in the Miami football program with the staff and implementing new offensive coordinator Dan Enos’ new offense have been two of the biggest focuses this spring.

The 11 players that will likely be the starters for the Hurricanes on offense are participating this spring but not yet determined. Quarterback and the offensive line are the biggest questions.

Ohio State transfer Tate Martell, rising redshirt sophomore N’Kosi Perry and rising redshirt freshmen Jarren Williams have taken equal snaps with the first team offense this spring. Saturday will be the media and Miami football fans first chance to see Martell play in a scrimmage. The battle to be the Miami’s QB will last into summer.

All of Miami’s wide receivers and running backs are on campus for spring practice. Rising redshirt freshman Robert Burns and Auburn transfer Asa Martin are out for the rest of the spring at running back. Martin is sitting out in 2019 and will have three years of eligibility remaining commencing in 2020.

Lorenzo Lingard is still recovering from his knee injury. Lingard’s participation this spring has been minimal. Rising sophomore Cam’Ron (formerly Davis) Harris and rising junior DeeJay Dallas will be the primary ball carriers in the two spring scrimmages the next two Saturdays.
