The best thing you can do when someone seeks attention negatively is to ignore them. Something had to be said for part of the Florida State fan base on social media and blogs that have called out Miami Hurricanes quarterback Tate Martell’s poor play this spring.

While the Miami Hurricanes were adding Tate Martell and eight mostly blue chip players through the transfer portal, Florida State’s additions seemed mostly desperate. Martell has not yet lived up to expectations. It’s only spring and Jarren Williams and N’Kosi Perry have mostly been sharp through the first two spring practices.

Perry’s accuracy has been much better this spring than last and from the 2018 season. Willams continues to show he’s the most accurate passer on the Miami Hurricanes roster. Miami’s top three quarterbacks were all higher ranked coming out of high school than any of the QBs on the Seminoles roster.

The dismissal of Dondre Francois after he was alleged to have committed domestic violence was the right move by Florida State. Francois was arguably the most skilled QB on the Seminoles roster and a two-year starter.

Francois’ dismissal was surprising after Florida State hired Kendall Briles who was on the Baylor staff as the offensive coordinator under his father Art during a rape and sexual assault scandal. Briles encouraged his players to attract white women at Baylor. That fostered a misogynist attitude.

"“Do you like white women, because we have plenty of them at Baylor and they love football players”"

Tallahassee.com questioned Florida State’s hire of Briles. They stated: “FSU’s Willie Taggart taking a big risk with Kendal Briles hire.” Florida State has far bigger problems than to be concerned with how Tate Martell has played through two scrimmages in April. The Miami Hurricanes and Florida State both had abysmal offenses in 2018.

The passing games were particularly poor for the Sunshine State’s two ACC teams in 2018. Florida State averaged a solid 270.1 passing yards per game last season, but they had one of the most inefficient passing offenses in the country. The Miami Hurricanes passing offense was poor across the board in 2018.
