Miami Hurricanes top three QBs rank higher than any on Florida State
The talent in the Miami quarterback room is greater than what they have in Tallahassee. The Seminoles essentially replaced the loss of Francois with former Wisconsin QB
as a graduate transfer and
as a transfer from Louisville. They also return James Blackman who started in 2017.
The Seminoles lost Bailey Hockman last September. After a year in junior college, Hockman is now at North Carolina State. The Seminoles and Wolfpack meet September 28 in Tallahassee. Hornibrook was almost an afterthought in the transfer portal. He didn’t announce he would be attending Florida State until late February.
Hornibrook joining the Seminoles smacks of desperation. He joins Florida State as the only QB on the Seminoles roster who has beaten Miami. He was the MVP of the 2017 Orange Bowl with Wisconsin against Miami. Hornibrook did not play in the Badgers victory over Miami in the Pinstripe Bowl because of persistent concussions.
Hornibrook’s great uncle John was a QB with the Miami Hurricanes in 1970-71. He led the Hurricanes in passing in 1971. Hornibrook was a solid but not spectacular QB at Wisconsin. He was a game manager. Hornibrook merely had to complement the Badgers exceptional running game.
Coming out of high school Hornibrook was the 1,026 ranked player overall in the Class of 2015 and the 41st ranked pro-style QB. The three-star QB was barely a blip on the recruiting radar. Florida State desperately to add depth at QB after dismissing Francois. The Seminoles did not sign a QB in 2018 or ’19.
