No Miami Hurricanes players are projected to be taken in the first round of early 2020 NFL Mock drafts in a consensus conducted by Canes Warning on Tuesday afternoon.

The 2020 NFL Draft could mark the third year in a row that no Miami Hurricanes football alums are selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. The Hurricanes last had a stretch that long when they went six years, between 2009-14, without a first-round pick.

Tight end David Njoku who went 29th to the Cleveland Browns in 2017 was the last Miami Hurricanes player selected in the first round. Njoku was the last of three straight NFL Drafts for a Miami player to be selected in the first round. Wide receiver Philip Dorsett and cornerback Artie Burns were selected in 2015 and ’16.

Four Miami Hurricanes bear watching for the 2020 NFL Draft. Rising senior linebackers Shaq Quarterman and Michael Pickney and rising juniors, cornerback Trajan Bandy and Jonathan Garvin are all candidates to be selected in the 2020 NFL Draft. Garvin is a near lock to leave after his junior season, Bandy is less likely.

Quarterman and Pinckney will be are entering their fourth season as starters in 2020. They are part of an all four-year starting linebacker corps with Zach McCloud who is now officially listed at striker. Garvin had a breakout season in 2018 playing in the shadow of defensive tackle Gerald Willis and end Joe Jackson.

Garvin led Miami Hurricanes defensive linemen in 2018 with 60 tackles. He added 17 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, five pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries including a memorable return for a touchdown against North Carolina. Garvin could be the best NFL prospect from Miami for the 2020 NFL Draft.
