No Miami Hurricanes projected in first round of early 2020 NFL Mock Drafts
After finishing fifth on the Miami Hurricanes in tackles as a freshman in 2016, Pinckney has finished third behind Quarterman each of the last two seasons. In three seasons Pinckney has 203 tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three interceptions and a six pass breakups.
Pinckney’s interception against Florida State helped Miami’s furious comeback to defeat the Seminoles for the second year in a row. If he hadn’t stumbled, Pinckney could have walked into the end zone with the pick six.
Quarterman has been one of the leaders of Miami’s defense since earning a starting spot as a Freshman in 2018. With Jawuan Johnson graduating, Quarterman will be looked up to even more in 2019. Quarterman has finished second in tackles on the Miami defense in each of his three seasons.
Quarterman will be a solid if not spectacular player in the NFL. In three seasons with the Hurricanes, he has 249 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, 11.0 sacks, eight pass breakups and three fumble recoveries. Quarterman has earned honorable mention All-ACC in all three of his collegiate seasons.
Other candidates for the 2020 NFL Draft from the Miami Hurricanes include McCloud, rising Junior running back D.J. Dallas, rising junior offensive lineman Navaughn Donaldson. Miami will also have graduate transfers, defensive end Trevon Hill and defensive tackle Chigozie Nnourka hoping to get a chance at the next level.
