Four Miami football players, one basketball among eight Hall of Fame inductees

Wilfork

spent the first 11 of his 13 years in the NFL with New England. He was a starter on the Patriots Super Bowl winning teams following the 2004 and ’05 seasons. Wilfork was an NFL All-Pro in

2012

and named to five Pro Bowls.

Cesar Carrillo was a tour de force for the Miami Baseball team in 2004 and ’05. Carillo won the first 24 decisions in his Miami career. That was one off of the NCAA record. In his first season with the Hurricanes Carillo went 12-0 with a 2.69 ERA.

Carillo was the ACC Pitcher of the Year in 2005. He finished 13-3 with a 2.22 ERA and 127 strikeouts in 125 innings. Carillo finished his Miami career with a 25-3 record and a 2.22 ERA. His ERA is seventh in Miami history. Carillo was the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 2005 MLB draft by the San Diego Padres.

Carillo started three games for San Diego in 2009 with a 13.06 ERA. He never appeared in another major league game after his three-game stint. Carillo played in high school at Mt. Carmel in Chicago. That is the same school that produced Donovan McNabb and Antoine Walker.
