Ryan Braun is the only Miami baseball alumn to win the Rookie of the Year and the Most Valuable Player Award in MLB. Braun came to Miami as a star shortstop and high school All-American. He was named the National Freshman of the Year and first-team All-American by Baseball American in 2003.

Braun was sensational as a Freshman. He led Miami with a .364 batting average, hit 17 home runs and broke Pat Burrell’s Miami freshman record with 76 RBI. Braun bounced back from an injury-plagued sophomore season to hit .396, with 17 home runs, 76 RBIs and 23 stolen bases as a junior and was named ACC Player of the Year.

Braun has played his entire Major League career with the Milwaukee Brewers. He was selected fifth overall by Milwaukee in the 2005 MLB Draft. He began his career as a third baseman but is currently a left fielder. Braun has been named to six all-star teams and led the National League in home runs in 2012.

Braun is Milwaukee’s all-time leader in home runs and in the top five in most hitting categories. He is fifth in Miami baseball history in home runs and RBIs and ranks in the top ten in most major offensive categories.
