CFR: 3. What is the deepest position on this (Miami football) team?
CW: The deepest position for Miami is defensive end. The Hurricanes should continue to dominate opposing offenses and be among the leaders nationally in tackles for loss and sacks. Miami led the nation in TFLs per game last season and was ninth in sacks per game.
Junior Jonathan Garvin has the potential to be one of the best defensive linemen in the country in 2019. He led Miami defensive linemen with 60 tackles and was second with 17 TFLs and 5.5 sacks.
Virginia Tech graduate transfer Trevon Hill was on pace to better Garvin’s numbers with the Hokies last season before being dismissed from the team for an alleged altercation in the locker room. Nothing was released publically. Miami head coach Manny Diaz is not worried about Hill’s past.
Rising redshirt freshman Greg Rousseau, rising senior Scott Patchan and incoming freshman Jahfari Harvey gives the Hurricanes edge rushers a chance to always have a fresh player on the field.
CFN: 4. Who do you think wins the QB battle? What does each QB bring to the table?
CW: Most signs lean towards Tate Martell winning the QB battle. The coaches have spoken about his leadership ability, knowledge and quick understanding of Enos’ offense, his intensity and athleticism.
N’Kosi Perry is the most experienced of the three Miami QBs and had the best spring. Jarren Williams is the Hurricanes QB with the best chance to succeed in the NFL. He has been lauded for his accuracy throwing the football.
