Five Miami football players ready for breakout seasons in 2019
Greg Rousseau and Trevon Hill will team with rising junior Jonathan Garvin, rising senior Scott Patchan and incoming freshman Jahfari Harvey to give the Miami football one of the deepest rotations of edge rushers in the country. The Hurricanes should be able to continue to dominate up front as they have under Diaz.
Miami led the nation in tackles for loss per game in 2018 and was ninth in sacks per game. Under Diaz, Miami has continued to pressure opponents while continuing to reload on the front four. Hill and Rousseau had big expectations in 2018 before having their seasons derailed for different reasons.
Rousseau was unblockable during spring practice in 2018 for the Miami football team. In three 2018 spring scrimmages, Rousseau had nine sacks. Rousseau’s season was sidelined when he suffered an ankle injury in the Hurricanes 2018 home opener against Savannah State. Rousseau is recovered and ready for 2019.
Hill was off to an exceptional start at Virginia Tech in 2018. His numbers through the first three games of the Hokies season would have projected better than anyone on Miami. Canes Warning covered Hill’s 2018 production earlier this week in a preview of his 2019 season.
"“In Virginia Tech’s first three games of 2018 Hill had 11 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. If Hill had played in all 13 of the Hokies games in 2018 that projects to 47 tackles, 19.5 TFLs and 15.75 sacks. Hill has the potential to be one of five dominant group of rushers for Miami.”"
