There are a lot of questions about the ACC Coastal Division entering 2019. The last six years have produced six different division champions. The Miami football program finally won their first Coastal division title in 2017.

Virginia is the only team that has a that has not won the Coastal Division and earned a trip to the ACC Championship game. Many college football analysts are projecting the Cavaliers to win the ACC Coastal in 2019. Based on many factors the Miami football team should be favored to win the Coastal in 2019.

Athlon Sports recently asked their college football analysts which program should be favored in the Coastal Division. Several picked the Miami football team. The reasons expressed by the Athlon analysts ranged from the defensive front seven, the schedule and the renewed energy brought by Manny Diaz ascending to head coach.

The Hurricanes defense has been their backbone the last three years with Diaz as the defensive coordinator. There is no reason to expect that to change with him as the head coach. The offense under new coordinator Dan Enos will be far more innovative, aggressive and modern, but expect it to complement the defense.

In addition to the consensus reasons the Athlon analysts expect, the Hurricanes new offense and improved play at quarterback, plus Miami’s overall talent should make them the favorites in the ACC Coastal Division. The preseason rankings are merely a guide and the Miami football team has to prove the hype on the field.

Miami has a lot to sort out in the two months before the preseason predictions are unveiled at the ACC Kickoff in Charlotte at the end of July. Less than a month after that the Hurricanes and Florida Gators will kick off the college football season in Orlando on August 24.
