Five reasons Miami football should be favored in the ACC Coastal
Dan Enos brings a new offense
The Mark Richt era brought wide criticism of Mark Richt’s antiquated pro-style offense. One of Richt’s biggest critics was ESPN in-game analyst and former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky. Orlovsky spoke about Richt’s offense during the Hurricanes loss at Georgia Tech last season.
"“They are stationary before the snap…If you are not using presnap motions, you’re behind the times…Have to hire someone who is on the cutting edge of offensive innovation.”"
Enos has maintained since his January hiring that motion and shifting from different formations will be commonplace in his system. That should be a relief for Miami Hurricanes fans to hear. Miami has far too much talent to be one of the most stagnant offenses in FBS as they were in 2018.
Skeptics for Miami’s outlook in 2019 point to play at QB over the last two seasons. Malik Rosier and N’Kosi Perry were inconsistent in 2018 and rotated between being the first team QB. Perry has a lot to prove before retaining his position as the first team QB. Diaz and Enos would not name a starter at the end of spring practice.
Athlon expects Martell and Perry to battle to be the Hurricanes starting QB. That seemed to be the case after the Spring Game. Don’t count out rising redshirt freshman Jarren Williams. Williams is the most accurate passer of the three and has the highest ceiling as an NFL Prospect.
Jon Kinne of Athlon is among the skeptics of Miami winning the Coastal because of the problems at QB. “Miami has a new head coach and the same quarterback concerns.”
