Commits to other schools share positive Paradise Camp experiences
Paradise Camp has gotten rave reviews from attendees that are committed to other college football programs. Wide receiver Dazalin Worsham who was at Paradise Camp de-commited from Alabama on Tuesday.
The success of Paradise Camp might have Manny Diaz and his staff on the verge of flipping several attendees who are committed to other college football programs. Four-star wide receiver Dazalin Worsham announced his de-commitment from Alabama on Tuesday after attending Paradise Camp over the weekend.
Worsham was one of eight players committed to other schools that attended Paradise Camp. That list shrunk to seven after Worsham’s decision on Tuesday. Paradise Camp received rave reviews throughout in Manny Diaz’s inaugural season. Some of the commits elsewhere praised Paradise Camp.
Three-star offensive Eli Acker who is committed to Mississippi spoke with Inside the U about his impressions of Paradise Camp. Acker is the 410th ranked player, 35th ranked offensive tackle and the sixth-ranked player in Mississippi in the Class of 2020. Acker preps at Heritage Academy in Columbus, Mississippi.
Acker is still considering Miami despite being committed to the Rebels. The 6’5.5, 270-pound offensive lineman would like to take an official visit with the Hurricanes later this year. Acker was able to see campus while in Coral Gables this past weekend. He also worked with Miami offensive line coach Butch Barry.

"“It was good…I got to go an a tour before the camp and everything and everything was really nice. I liked it. I think I’m going to try and take an official after the season. Just hearing all the stuff about The U and everything. It’s just something that I wanted to check out. I really like him (Barry). I like the way that he coaches.I have talked to him a bunch before over the phone, but it was nice to actually meet him in person. It’s a great place and just with the history and all the great players it seems like a great place to be.”"
Acker told Inside the U he is still a solid commit to Mississippi. That could easily be hyperbole from a young recruit trying to keep his options open without burning any bridges. Acker is on schedule to graduate in the spring. He would be a more traditional enrollee in the summer of 2020.
Worsham did not mention Miami or Paradise Camp when he de-committed. The timing of Worsham’s de-commitment indicates his experience at Paradise Camp clearly had an impact on his decision to de-commit from Alabama.
David Wilson of the Miami Herald reported post Paradise Camp that Oregon 2020 safety commit Avantae Williams won the fastest man competition with his cousin Lorenzo Lingard at Paradise Camp. He called Miami home and discussed his recruitment for 2020 with Wilson and the possibility of playing with Lingard.
"“We’re the fastest here. No doubt. I would beat him. They say get back home. I feel like it’s home…I can be myself. I ain’t got to like put on an act. I can be myself. Everybody thinks from I’m from here, but I’m not from Miami. He lets me do me,” Williams said. “He don’t really bother me.”"
Wilson reported that Williams fits in perfectly into Manny Diaz’s system. Miami currently has three-star safeties Keshawn Washington and Justin Hodges committed to the nation’s eighth best recruiting class for 2020.
