Speedy three-star defensive end Quentin Williams from Charlotte, North Carolina committed to the Miami football program on Wednesday.

Quentin Williams is the third player to commit to the Miami football program in less than a week. Paradise Camp has brought a buzz around the Hurricanes and produce players who want to play for Manny Diaz and the U. Williams committed to the Hurricanes over in-state North Carolina and several other schools.

With Williams’ addition, the 2020 Miami recruiting class is eighth in the 247Sports composite rankings for 2020. If Miami can finish eighth, that would match their finish in the 2018 recruiting rankings. Manny Diaz and his staff are continuing to blaze trails in recruiting. The Hurricanes are first in the 2021 recruiting rankings.

Williams is a 6’3 234 pound, weakside defensive end who currently has the body of a linebacker. He is the 634th ranked player in the class of 2020, the 24th ranked WDE and the 18th best player in North Carolina. Williams’ speed is his biggest strength.

At The Opening in Charlotte in January Williams ran a 4.8 40-yard dash, had a 33.4-inch vertical and ran 4.41 seconds in the short shuttle according to Andrew Ivins of Inside the U. Williams is the 19th player to commit to Miami for 2020. The question is how many of those players will sign.

The Hurricanes had a mass exodus from their 2019 signing class after a 7-6 season. Miami was listless at times in 2018 and that hindered their recruiting class. Manny Diaz has infused energy for The New Miami. Williams spoke to Ivins about why he chose Miami and a few other notes regarding his recruitment.

"“I like Manny Diaz as a head coach. I picked Miami because the school part of it. The campus is also really peaceful and the coaches are just cool.”"

Williams father grew up a big Miami fan. The future Hurricanes defensive end said his father is ecstatic with his decision to articulate in Coral Gables.

"“He can’t stop smiling every time I bring it up. I know he wanted to go there when he was my age and I know it brings him joy when he says I’m about to go there.”"

Jonathan Patke and Todd Stroud were the two Miami assistants who convinced Williams to commit to the Hurricanes. That is impressive in a short period of time for Stroud who has only been on the Miami staff for a few months. Williams speaks to them every day.

"“We talk daily. They want me to come down [in late July] for a get together. So I’m going to do that”"

Williams junior season in high school seemed solid if not spectacular. “I don’t know my stats, but if I have to estimate I had six or seven sacks.” the future Miami football player said when asked about his penultimate season in high school. Williams is the fourth DE committed to Miami for 2020.

Four-star strongside defensive end Samuel Anaele from Carol City has been one of Miami’s longest committed players for 2020. Three-star DEs Elijah Roberts of Columbus high school in Miami and Tre’von Riggins from St. Petersburg are the other three DEs expected to sign with Miami.

Next. Miami and 2020 5-Star QB Jake Garcia have mutual interest. dark

The four defensive ends, plus defensive tackle Wille Moise give Miami one of the best defensive lines in the 2020 class. The rotation at DE for the Hurricanes will continue to be one of the best in the country for the foreseeable future.
