What happened last year?

Mark Richt’s retirement, Manny Diaz being hired to succeed him, the transfer portal and QB battle have taken a lot of the focus off of the 7-6 collapse of the 2018 season. After an embarrassing 33-17 loss to LSU in last season’s opener the Hurricanes ripped off five straight wins to rise to number 16 in the country.

Four straight losses ruined the season. That losing streak marked eight losses in a 13 game stretch.  A season-ending loss took the momentum out of back to back wins to end the regular season. Diaz has embraced his new position as head coach. He has perfectly utilized social media to create excitement.

Diaz and K.J. Osborn are going to have a lot of questions to answer about how the Miami football team went from 10-3 in 2017 to 7-6 in 2018 and what went wrong with the offense. As a graduate transfer in his first season with the Miami football program Osborn will have a different perspective to answer questions about 2018.

It has repeatedly been well documented about how bad the Hurricanes offense and specifically the passing game was last season. Miami obviously needs better play at QB this season. With new offensive coordinator Dan Enos that is expected. The Hurricanes don’t want to waste another season with an elite defense.
