Who is the starting Quarterback?

The question the most on the minds of the media and fans of the Miami football program is who is going to be the starting QB. Diaz and Enos have both said since the end of spring practice that N’Kosi Perry, Tate Martell and Jarren Williams all have an equal chance to earn the starting QB job for the Hurricanes.

Martell and Perry are thought the be the favorites to pull away in training camp and separate themselves. Perry was named the best QB of the spring and thought to have a slight edge over Martell. Perry has a lot to improve on and off the field to become the starter. He has reportedly matured during the offseason.

Perry had a couple of questionable missteps off the field that was posted on social media in 2018. On the field, Perry has to improve his accuracy and efficiency. Miami’s passing game was abysmal last season. The poor play from Perry and Malik Rosier, dropped passes from the wide receivers and antiquated offense all played a role.

The new offensive staff is in place. It is time to stop blaming the dropped passes and Mark Richt playbook and play calling. If none of the QBs step up in 2019 it’s on them.  Miami needs better play at QB this season. If it doesn’t happen another great defense could create tension in the locker room.
