The Miami basketball team was down to six players in the victory Stella Azzurra after

Lykes

and freshman Harlond Beverly fouled out and Miller missed the fourth quarter with cramps. The Hurricanes blew a 20-point third-quarter lead but rallied for the victory.

Vasiljevic continued his stellar play this summer leading Miami with 20 points. The stellar three-point shooter led Australia to the bronze Medal. World University Games in Naples this summer. Vasiljevic scored 33 points in the medal clinching game against Israel.

Vasiljevic was seven-of-ten from the floor, three-of-five on threes and made all three of his free throws for the Miami basketball team in their first game in the land of the Azzurri. Lykes and junior transfer Kameron McGusty backed up Vasiljevic with 13 points each. McGusty got off to a great start in his first game in a Miami uniform.

The former starter for the Oklahoma Sooners scored eight of the first ten points in the game for the Hurricanes. McGusty was playing against his former Oklahoma teammate Khadeem Lattin. McGusty and Lattin played together in Norman during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. McGusty sat out last season with Miami.

The first game of the Italy trip is likely a precursor of how the scoring will be for the Miami basketball team this season. Expect some combination of Lykes, McGusty and Vasiljevic to lead Miami in scoring.
