The injury to sophomore defensive tackle Nesta Silvera left the interior of the Miami Hurricanes defense thin against Florida. Several freshmen will rotate in behind starters, senior Pat Bethel and junior Jon Ford and graduate transfer Chigozie Nnoruka who will form the top three in the rotation with Bethel and Ford.

Redshirt Freshman Jordan Miller and true freshmen Jason Blissett, Jalal Holley and Jared Harrison-Hunte could all see playing time against Florida. Miller and Blisset will likely rotate in as the fourth defensive tackle behind Bethel, Ford and Nnoruka and ahead of Holley and Harrison-Hunte.

Freshmen at defensive end are also expected to receive key snaps against the Gators. No freshman on the Miami Hurricanes roster has higher expectations this fall than redshirt Greg Rousseau. Rousseau entered the 2018 season with high expectations but suffered a season-ending ankle injury against Savannah State in the second game of the year.

Rousseau enters 2019 likely to slot in as Miami’s fourth defensive end in what will be one of the best rotations at edge pass rusher in the country. At 6’6 Rousseau’s length provides matchup problems for opposing offensive lines. Rosseau is a natural for the viper position for Miami.
