1. Cowardly Gators

Florida and Miami played annually until 1987. Who canceled the series? Florida of course. The Gators had a multitude of excuses but we all know that Florida was tired of taking losses! The 1980s and early 1990s were filled with Miami championships while Florida watched at home at the end of each season.

Ridding themselves of a consistent national championship contender must have been the idea to better assist them into making the National Title Game! Florida replaced Miami on their 1988 schedule with 1-AA Montana State. The Gators defeated the Bobcats 69-0.

2. Florida claims to be the better football program!

Lets just put this to rest quickly, Miami leads the series in wins. Miami has more All-Americans, NFL Draft Picks and 20 more weeks as the Associated Press’ top-ranked team than Florida. Miami has more first-round draft picks and Championships! Championships should be all that matters. Why else why play them?

Miami fires coaches for going 8-4 (Al Golden) not 4-7 like Will Muschamp and the naked shark fisherman. Lastly, please save the argument that the ’08 Gators could beat the ’01 Canes, yes the Florida fans make that claim. The 2001 Miami Hurricanes are regarded by the consensus as the greatest team in the history of college football.
