Marve transferred to Purdue after the 2008 season. He sat out 2009 before having three inauspicious years in West Lafayette. Harris stayed and was polarizing as the Hurricanes starting QB from 2009-11. Harris is second in Miami Hurricanes football history with 70 career TD passes.

Harris shared time with Stephen Morris in 2010 and ’11. Morris’s debut came after Harris was knocked out of the game in a critical loss to Virginia. It was a tough debut for Morris. Coming off the bench is certainly not comparable to the 12 days Williams had to prepare for Florida. Morris was 9-22 for 162 yards with two TD and two INTs.

Morris added three carries for 23 yards and another TD. He shared the position with Harris over the next two seasons, making five starts. Morris started all 25 games he appeared in during the 2012 and ’13 seasons following Harris’ departure. Morris was succeeded by Brad Kaaya. Kaaya started from 2014-16.

Kaaya finished his Miami career with 9,968 passing yards to set the Miami school record. It is a number that if he is the Miami QB for the next three to four seasons, Williams will have a good chance to break. Kaaya went 17-29 in his debut against Louisville as a true freshman in 2014.

The California native threw for 174 yards with a TD and two interceptions in Louisville’s debut game as a member of the ACC. Kaaya would go on to an exceptional freshman season with three 300-yard games and 25 TDs and 11 interceptions. Kaaya remained the starter through 2016 except missing a game in 2015.
