Two weeks after giving up ten sacks against Florida, the Miami Hurricanes will face another formidable pass rush when they travel to Chapel Hill to open ACC against North Carolina.

A lot was made after the loss to Florida that the Gators were the best defensive line Miami Hurricanes will face in 2019. North Carolina had a productive defensive line in prodigal coach Mack Brown’s return this past weekend. The Tar Heels had seven tackles for loss and three sacks in a 24-20 victory over South Carolina.

The North Carolina defense buckled down in the fourth quarter. The Tar Heels trailed the Gamecocks 20-9 entering the fourth quarter. North Carolina held South Carolina to 23 yards on 18 plays and three first downs in the final 15 minutes.

Gamecocks quarterback Jake Bentley threw both of his interceptions in the fourth quarter. He finished the afternoon 16-30 for 143 yards with one TD and the two Ints. South Carolina was able to run the ball on North Carolina. The Gamecocks ran 31 times for 128 yards and a TD.

The TD is encouraging for the Miami Hurricanes. Tavien Feaster who ran 13 times for 74 yards was the first to reach the end zone in Charlotte with a 34-yard TD run. Miami had a pair of long runs against Florida. DeeJay Dallas had a 50-yard TD run that put Miami ahead 20-17 in the fourth quarter.

Cam’Ron Harris had a 57-yard run that was called back for a holding call. Harris officially finished the night with six carries for 15 yards. Miami needs more from Harris against North Carolina. The Hurricanes finished with 87 yards on 36 carries against Florida. Jarren Williams lost 43 yards on 15 carries.
