Miami football: Golden Cane has faith Hurricanes have improved
Jarren Williams, in fact, had the best game since the days of Brad Kayaa years before. Once again the kicking game proved to be very costly for Miami and having not been able to capitalize on what should’ve been a short field goal and again on an extra point.
The game was decided by a long but very makeable field goal (that) would’ve sent this (game) into overtime. Most likely, Manny Diaz made a critical error in failing to call a time out with North Carolina marching down the field and going for a fourth and 17.

Miami with all the timeouts remaining easily could’ve used one to make sure the play would not result in extending the North Carolina drive and likely sealing a victory. This mistake proved to be critical as what should’ve seemingly been against most all odds North Carolina converted to play and was able to recapture the lead.
Williams successfully drove the Canes within field-goal distance. With an earlier field goal slightly longer it was certainly within range although not short but very much makeable. As the ball sailed to the left so went to Canes hopes of winning the game. So what about the new Miami?
The new Miami is off to the worst start for any Miami hurricanes football team since 1978.
The bright side is neither game was a blowout and in fact, with a few minutes left in both games, the Canes were in position to win. Just as easily as Miami lost both these games Miami could’ve won both these games and been 2-0.
