Point Guards

Deivon Smith 5’11 160 Point Guard, Loganville, Georgia

This sub-6 foot guard from Grayson High School in Loganville, GA has been one of the Miami basketball program’s top targets since they offered him early in his junior year. Davion Smith is ranked 50th in the 24/7 Sports composite rankings in the class 2020.

The four-star recruit is ranked seventh at his position. Smith recently set visits to NC State and Louisville, with Miami, Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Oregon making up the remainder of his top 10. Most think Louisville leads for Smith.

Andre Curbelo 6’0, 155, point guard, Long Island Lutheran

A tough, prototypical New Yorker point guard of Puerto Rican descent, the consensus four-star guard is ranked as high as 52nd by 24/7 Sports. Curbelo is high on the wish list for Larrañaga and his staff. While Andre Curbelo has yet to cut his list, he holds high-major offers from Miami, Florida, Kansas and Louisville among others.

Canes are expected to make his initial cut with a high likelihood of him visiting Coral Gables this fall.

Santiago Véscovi, 6’2 175, Point guard, Mexico, City, Mexico

Uruguayan guard Santiago Véscovi has largely been off the radar until a breakout in NBA Academy games this spring and summer. While he has yet to be consistently ranked by recruiting services, his offers from Miami, Maryland, Butler and other high-majors points to him as a likely top 150 potential four-star player with more visibility.
