Miami Basketball Recruiting in the mix for several 2020 top 100
Kerwin Walton, 6’4, 170, shooting guard, Hopkins, Minnesota
Kerwin Walton has skyrocketed up the recruiting rankings this summer, consistently ranked as a four-star player in the top 100 after an impressive summer. At nearly 6’5”, Walton can fill it up from outside. Walton holds offers from Miami, Arizona, Ohio State, Minnesota and Iowa State, among others.
Walton recently set an official visit to Arizona on September 27 and reportedly has been working on a date to visit the Miami basketball program.
Niels Lane 6’5 195, shooting guard, Roselle, New Jersey
Niles Lane a four-star New Jersey product, recently cut his list to five schools, Miami, Connecticut, Florida, Providence and Texas. He has taken an unofficial visit to Providence and has taken official visits to Florida and UConn.
Lane will visit Miami on September 13 and Texas the following weekend. A versatile wing with lockdown defensive skills, he’s expected to decide this fall.
Jamal Mashburn, Jr., 6’0, 160 combo guard, Brewster Academy, Wolfboro, NH
Son of former Kentucky and NBA star, the younger Jamal Mashburn calls Miami his hometown. Following two years of high school ball at Gulliver Prep, Mashburn transferred out of state to basketball powerhouse Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, where 2020 commit Matt Cross will play.
An undersized combo guard listed at six-feet, Mashburn is nonetheless a consensus four-star recruit ranked in almost all recruiting top 100s and has a reputation for filling up the scoresheet. In addition to Miami, Mashburn is closely involved with Cal, Minnesota and Wake Forest, having set up official visits to the first two.
