Miami has also not made enough big plays on offense. Two of their most explosive players are likely to get more playing time the next two Saturdays offensively. The most impressive player for the Hurricanes in a limited role this season has been redshirt freshman Greg Rousseau. Rousseau leads Miami in TFLs and sacks.

Miami head coach Manny Diaz eluded to Rousseau’s impressive play this season. Rousseau is a player that Diaz has always been high on. That should continue when Rousseau gets more snaps. With the depth the Hurricanes have at edge rusher this season it is going to be difficult to keep them all happy.

"“Greg Rousseau is a guy who’s going to continue to play more…He’s a guy that’s flashing every single time.”"

Rousseau is 20th in the country with two sacks this season. He is 14th with 3.5 tackles for loss. Those numbers have come in limited snaps. Rousseau’s production is incredible when you consider that he has only made four tackles in two games. He has without question flashed every single time as Diaz said.

The 6’6 260 pound Rousseau has played inside on occasion this season. Miami defensive coordinator Blake Baker has been as impressed with Rousseau’s play as Diaz has.

"“He has had two really good weeks…You can see how he’s just progressed, becoming more and more comfortable. He’s doing some really good things at defensive end… I think, he adds a huge dimension for us on third down, sliding him inside, rushing the passer. So you’ll see more and more Greg Rousseau as the season progresses..”"

Rosseau could be seeing more time at defensive tackle. Miami does not have a lot of experienced depth there. Senior Pat Bethel, graduate transfer Chigozie Nnoruka and junior Jon Ford are the only players currently who have experience prior to this season. Miami expects to get Nesta Silvera back October 5 against Virginia Tech.
