Miami football team loss to Virginia Tech was on all facets of game

There will be a lot of fingers pointed after the Miami football team fell into a 28-0 first-half deficit and lost 42-35 to Virginia Tech at home on Saturday afternoon.

Seven more sacks allowed by the offensive line, 11 penalties and five turnovers did in the Miami football team in a 42-35 loss to Virginia Tech on Saturday. The five turnovers came in the first half on four interceptions and a lost fumble as the Hurricanes fell behind 28-0 in the second quarter to the Hokies Saturday afternoon.

Starting quarterback Jarren Williams was pulled after starting the game 4-7 for 47 yards with three interceptions in the first quarter. N’Kosi Perry entered the game and went  28-47 for 422 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. It was the most passing yards in a game for Miami since Stephen Morris threw for 566 yards in 2012.

The three interceptions thrown by Williams and one by Perry helped stake Virginia Tech to a 28-0 lead with 9:30 remaining in the second quarter. Miami was only able to avoid their first scoreless first half of 2019 when Perry connected with sophomore wide receiver Mark Pope on a hail mary via a tip by tight end Will Mallory.

The Pope TD gave Miami hope going into halftime. The Hurricanes defense seemed rejuvenated early in the second half. Virginia Tech went three and out after they started the second half with the football. Pery led Miami on an eight-play 88-yard drive on the Hurricanes’ first possession of the second half to cut the deficit to 28-14.

Perry connected with sophomore tight end Brevin Jordan from eight yards out on the eight-play 88-yard drive for the crazy eights in 3:33 in a crazy game. Bubba Baxa’s extra point got Miami within 14 points. the Virginia Tech and Miami football teams exchanged punts on the final four possessions of the third quarter into the fourth.
