The next drive was the only one Miami was able to stop Virginia Tech following a turnover. The Hokies went three and out. Two Miami completions including one for a first down were sandwiched around a sack by Virginia Tech on the next drive. Waller got his second interception of the game on third and 13.

That was Williams’ third and final interception of the day. Virginia Tech went 23 yards in two plays on a drive that only took 36 seconds. That pushed the lead to 14-0. Despite three turnovers, Miami was still in the game. N’Kosi Perry entered the game on the next drive. On Perry’s first play, wide receiver Mike Harley fumbled on a run.

The Hokies scored four plays later. That included another first down run by Hooker.

On third and six Hooker ran 12 yards to the Miami one to set Virginia Tech up first and goal. One play later James Mitchell ran it in for his second touchdown of the season on just his only carry of the game and third of the season.
