Making case why N’Kosi Perry should be Miami football QB
Miami has converted 59.26 percent of their RedZone possessions into touchdowns and 14.81 percent into field goals. That ranks 68th and 94th respective. The poor field goal conversion rate in the RedZone is more on Bubba Baxa’s struggles than the lack of offensive accomplishments. Baxa is just 5-9 on field goals in 2019.

Baxa has also missed two extra points this season. He was replaced by Turner Davidson against Virginia. Davidson made both extra-point attempts and a key fourth-quarter field goal against the Cavaliers. That might have created a kicker controversy with Baxa, Davidson and Camden Price missed the last two games.
Perry has been less than efficient in the RedZone according to Navarro. The redshirt sophomore QB is 5-13 for 32 yards with four TDs and on interception inside opponents’ 20-yard line. Perry has been a far more efficient passer on third down and in the fourth quarter. Navarro vetted out the differences between Perry and Willams.
Somewhat surprisingly Perry has generally been the more clutch QB in 2019. Navarro recited that Perry is second in the ACC in QBR on third down. The redshirt sophomore QB is 11-14 for 133 yards, one TD and no interceptions on third down. Miami has converted first downs seven times on third down attempts with Perry.
Williams is 16th out of 17 qualified QBs in the ACC on third down using QBR as a measure. He is 13-23 for 89 yards with no touchdowns and all three of his interceptions against Virginia Tech on third down. Miami has only a one-third conversion on third-down passing with Williams as the QB according to Navarro.
