The Hurricanes RedZone offense against Georgia Tech was far below their 74.07 scoring percentage prior to Saturday”s game. The Hurricanes began the game by scoring TDs on both of their forays into the red zone in the first half. Miami failed to score on all four trips in the RedZone in the second half.

Three of those four trips resulted in missed field goals. The other failed trip into the RedZone came in overtime. Davidson missed 34 and 25-yard field goals and Baxa missed from 27 in between Davidson’s misses. If Miami makes any of those field goals the Hurricanes win the game. That’s not the sole reason Miami lost.

Diaz’s reference to driving the missiles out of bounds was in reference to a fake punt that Georgia Tech through for a touchdown. D.J. Ivey was lax on staying with the gunner for Georgia Tech on punt coverage. That allowed Nathan Cottrell to get wide open on a 41 yards TD reception from Georgia Tech punter Pressley Harvin.

The first two TDs of the game for the Yellow Jackets were scored by their defense and special teams. Those are the kinds of things that you cannot allow to happen and expect to win the game. Miami continues to find ways to lose. Turning the ball over five times against Virginia Tech was another perfect example.
