An epic fourth quarter

The fourth quarter was back and forth. In the final seven minutes of the game, the lead changed four times. Florida State scored the first ten points of the decisive quarter to regain the lead. A Ricky Aguayo 38 yd field goal gave the Seminoles a 13-10 lead with 6:55 left in the game. Miami did not wilt.

The Hurricanes went 75 yards in six plays in 1:46 finished by a Rosier to Berrios six-yard TD pass with 5:09 remaining in the game. Florida State answered.  The Seminoles answered with their own 75-yard drive on nine plays in 3:45. Florida State QB James Blackman threw a 20-yard TD pass to Auden Tate with 1:24 remaining.

Needing only a field goal and having moved the ball at will in the second half following the dismal first half the Miami offense had plenty of time left to tie or win the game. The Hurricanes drove the ball to the Florida State 23 with 10 seconds remaining to put Badgley in position for a 40-yard field goal attempt to tie the game.

Rosier had other ideas. He connected with junior Darrell Langham who caught the ball at about the three and twisted into the end zone to give Miami a 23-20 lead with six seconds remaining. Badgley added the extra point. Florida State did nothing with the subsequent squib kick and the losing streak to FSU was over.
