The University of Miami Hurricanes are going into Tallahassee to play what can be considered a mediocre 2019 Florida State Seminoles team. The consensus opinion that the Miami football team is less than a dozen plays away from being undefeated.

While the Miami football team being a dozen plays away from being undefeated is probably true, it’s irrelevant. At the end of the game you either win it or you lose it. For the Miami football team will go into Tallahassee as an underdog in a hostile environment.

According to the Las Vegas oddsmakers, the Hurricanes are going to need to do something that they’ve struggled to do all season long. Hopefully, it doesn’t come down to this. Miami needs to accept the fact that Camden Price is their kicker.

No matter what the situation unless it’s a field goal or 50 yards or more to win the game he needs to be the guy kicking field goals and extra points. The Hurricanes need to figure out how to get behind their leader in Jarren Williams their starting quarterback. The Hurricanes need to figure out how to convert on third down.

Miami has solved its punting issue. The improved punting has helped give them better field position defensively. Better field position is not what they’re playing for. They need to get first downs when it’s third-down and relatively short. Having to punt the ball no matter how well the ball is punted is not the answer.

it’s interesting that Tate Martell has been practicing as a quarterback this week. That could open up the opportunity for a dual-threat QB to step into the game on the third and short and pick up that first down that otherwise may have been a punt. Who knows if that’s something being the Canes coaching staff is considering.

In order to win the game, the Hurricanes have to figure out a way to be more productive in the red zone. Field goals and the kicking game have been problematic when you score six on a touchdown it’s always much better than a field goal. A field goal has not always been a sure thing this season.

If the Hurricanes could figure how to score touchdowns inside of the red zone there should be a lot of upset oddsmakers in Las Vegas this weekend. In order to win the game, Miami has to figure out a way to be more productive in the red zone.

Hopefully, senior linebacker Michael Pickney will be healthy enough to where classmate Zach MacLeod doesn’t need to enter the game in his place. Being able to redshirt McCloud gives the Hurricanes a huge defensive advantage going into next season. The defense should be able to hold.

If the offense does its job particularly in the red zone I think the Hurricanes win the Florida State Miami football game. Share your thoughts in the comments below or reach Canes Warning and me on twitter.
