Miami Hurricanes quarterback Jarren Williams received numerous awards following his record-setting six-touchdown performance against Louisville. It is not too soon to place Williams among the elite QBs in the ACC.

Jarren Williams’ six touchdown passes on Saturday against Louisville set the Miami football program record and tied the ACC record. Despite not playing in the majority of three games, Williams is fourth in the ACC in total TD passes with 16. Williams is also second in the ACC in passer rating and completion percentage.

The 2021 near-lock top over pick in the NFL Draft, Trevor Lawrence of Clemson is the only QB ahead of Williams in passer rating and completion percentage. Williams’ performance against the Cardinals on Saturday earned him the ACC Rookie of the Week and ACC QB of the Week, in addition to several national awards.

Williams has evolved throughout the season. He has become better at avoiding an opponent’s pass rush and learned when he needs to run. After Williams was sacked 10 times against Florida in the season opener, he and N’Kosi Perry have been sacked 26 times in the nine games since the loss to the Gators.

In honoring Williams, the ACC mentioned the six TD passes he threw, a season-long 67-yard TD pass to sophomore wide receiver Dee Wiggins, his ability to avoid throwing interceptions, his accuracy and his prowess on the ground against Louisville.

On the season Williams has completed 67.4 percent of his passes, which would break the Miami season record set by Jacory Harris who completed 65 percent in 2011. Williams was also named the Co-National Player of the Week with Minnesota QB Tanner Morgan by the College Football Performance Awards.

"“Set the Miami record and tied the ACC mark with six touchdown passes in Saturday’s 52-27 win over Louisville • Connected on a career-long 67-yard touchdown pass and did not throw an interception for the sixth time in seven career starts• Completed 68.2 percent of his passes (15 of 22) – his best mark since a Week 4 start versus Central Michigan – for 253 yards • Added a career-high 23 rushing yards • First ACC Quarterback of the Week honor of his career and third time as ACC Rookie of the Week.”"

Next. Jarren Williams has always been the right QB for MIami. dark

Williams and the Miami passing offense that has been stellar the past two weeks in the victories over Florida State and Louisville will be challenged more in their last two games of the season. After a bye week, Miami plays FIU who is 11th in FBS in pass defense at Marlins Park and finishes the season at Duke who is 38th.
