The Miami football team will return to the hallowed grounds of the Orange Bowl for the first time since 2007 when they play at Marlins Park against FIU on Saturday.

The Miami football team returns to the hallowed grounds of the Orange Bowl for the first time since they played their last game there in 2007. The Hurricanes will square off against Florida International. Miami enters the game 6-4. FIU is 5-5 and needs one more win to become eligible to become bowl eligible.

Miami enters Saturday’s game with a three-game winning streak. The Hurricanes victory over Louisville two weeks ago was their sixth of the season and qualifies them for a bowl game. Miami will conclude their regular season at Duke next week. FIU is on the road at Marshall to conclude their regular season.

Miami defeated FIU 31-17 last season in a game the Hurricanes dominated for three quarters. Through the first three-quarters of last year’s game the Panthers had 48 total yards. FIU had 138 yards in the final 15 minutes against mostly backups. The majority of those backups are now starters.

Miami needs to come out with a sense of purpose and show that the players who let up 138 yards and 17 points in the fourth quarter have matured in the last 14 months. Greg Rousseau has become a star and Al Blades, D.J. Ivey and Gurvan Hall among others in the secondary have grown throughout the 2019 season.

N’Kosi Perry shined in relief of Malik Rosier against FIU in 2018. Perry was 17-24 for 224 yards with three TDs and no interceptions. If Perry gets playing time against the Panthers this season it will mean the game was a blowout. Jarren Williams has grown tremendously over the last three games.
