Four-star outside linebacker Keshawn Greene who de-committed from Florida State on Friday is taking his official visit with the Miami football program this weekend. The Hurricanes are attempting to make Greene their third 2020 flip from the Seminoles.

Keshawn Greene is the 155th ranked player, the 11th ranked outside linebacker and the 24th ranked player in Florida in the Class of 2020. Greene attends Wakulla High School which is about 25 miles south of Florida State’s campus. Greene is the third Florida State commit the Miami football program is trying to flip for 2020.

Greene de-committed from Florida State on Friday. Greene’s coach at Wakulla, Scott Klees said Greene started to second guess his commitment after Miami’s third straight win over the Seminoles in Tallahassee last month followed by the dismissal of their head coach Willie Taggart about 24 hours later.

Greene posted his de-commitment from Florida State early on Friday evening at the outset of his visit to Miami. He gave the standard thank you to the Florida State coaching staff and said it was in his best interests to de-commit from the Seminoles. Flipping a third former FSU commit would build a lot of momentum for Miami.

Miami has previously flipped former FSU four-star commits running back Jaylan Knighton and safety Jalen Harrell during on Thanksgiving and Black Friday. The commits from Harrell and Knighton were critical. Their commitments allowed the Miami football 2020 recruiting class to rise from 17th to 14th nationally.

Greene was the third Florida State recruit to de-commit on Friday. Defensive ends DE Morven Joseph and Josh Griffis also de-committed on Friday. Joseph was first with Griffis de-committing a few minutes before Greene. Klees was quoted in the Miami Herald on Friday discussing Greene’s recruitment before de-committing.

"“He was signing early at FSU and with all that’s going on he’s pulled back from signing early and is now taking his visits and just looking at everything…With us being up here, we have players at FSU and they like FSU, but we also had a kid that went to Miami not too long ago and we’ve had kids at the University of Florida. It’s not that he’s a die-hard…“He’ll be as fast as any strong safety they have.  You know, these kids change their mind.”"

According to the Herald Miami offered Greene a scholarship just two days after Taggart was fired by Florida State. The Hurricanes LB room is very fluid entering 2020. Miami can sell Greene the potential for playing time next season. Miami will return Zach McCloud off a redshirt season at one starting LB spot.

The starter next to McCloud is likely to come from a pair of 2019 freshmen. Sam Brooks or Avery Huff are the favorites to receive the most snaps at LB in 2020 for Miami after McCloud. Brooks has six tackles and one TFL this season. Huff is taking an academic redshirt season.

Miami’s 2020 recruiting class is second in the ACC. Greene would be the fourth LB to commit to the Miami 2020 recruiting class. The Hurricanes currently have commitments from Romello Height, Tirek-Austin Cave and Corey Flagg for 2020. Height is expected to be an edge rusher in college.

Next. Blake Baker led successful 2019 Miami defense. dark

Austin-Cave and Flagg are projected to play inside LB. They are not likely to get much playing time with McCloud, Brooks, Huff and veterans, Patrick Joyner, Bradley Jennings and Waymon Steed returning next season. Greene is an elite player who could challenge for playing time in 2020, especially if he enrolls in January,
